I'm Nigerian, Italian, and Native American. I want something that will get my curls very curly, but when I use mousse or gel it just feels hard and crunchy and is a disaster to comb out. Any tips on a mousse, gel, leave in cream etc. that will get my curls soft and moveable?

@ibegabby36 She is saying to wash it with conditioner as opposed to Shampoo. The shampoo strips your hair damaging it for several days where if you shampoo once every two weeks while washing with conditioner every day you will notice your hair transform. Or maybe you are unable to do good.....

So, I am gonna try not washing my hair so often (as in every day) but I'm curious if a daily rinse and condition is suitable enough to 1. remove residual product from days worth of use, and 2. keep from getting smelly or ?? from daily workouts, which are not negotiable. Or what about a combo of the 2 things?? Sweaty nasty product buildup?? OMG, I don't think I will try this until I hear from someone else. Sounds like it could lead to a hot (stank) mess!!

@FuckYouPayMe143 I think each bottle of that Redken stuff is $16 each, but im not 100% sure. I recently found out about this stuff that works BETTER than mousse! Its called Tresemme Curl Care Defining Gel. I put alot of it when I get out of the shower and blowdry it on high heat, but low power. It works very well.

First of all I luv luv absolutely luv this girl! Maiysha is the greatest, hands down! She is a plus size model and a fabulous singer. And, to top it off she has the best curly hair styling tips on you tube. The Redken line is expensive, but "get what u pay for" realtalk! I like the fresh curls spring mousse for lazy curls coupled with the smooth down butter treat. They work amazing together. If ur a curly hair gyrl I dare you to try it. Her tips work really well, but for the person that dosn't want to spend alot of money on hair products can get similar results by using some mousse and blowdrying upside down and side to side. It dosnt work for all curly hair types, so I recommend Maiysha's way!

@yassismusic tanx a lot girl for all the info :) my curls arent that tight, more wavy i'd say. anyway, i'll try both redken and garnier fructis. they say that the hair gets used to a certain shampoo or conditioner and aftre a while doesnt response as well. so its good to switch between two shampoos or conditioners every month :)

But just to let you know it gets most of the frizz out but not 100 percent of it! I wish it did though :( it could be my shampoo and conditioner I use aussie moist :)

Great video, I've learned to work with my hair and I now I love it! Its so much easier to leave it curly instead of straightening it every single day. It also looks much better that straight. Its very bouncy. I have to learn how to deal with it in the mornings though, when I wake up I have a lot of frizz, I usually wet it a little and it gets better, but some frizz and static will remain. Heavy products are great on my hair, they give it a little weight and the curls turn softer and looser. :)

I also style my naturally curly hair with conditioners that are supposed to be wash out only. I haven't had much luck with leaving in salon conditioners but store bought conditioners I have had a lot of luck with. I hope you find what you're looking for :)

Thank you for the product review. Can you tell me how do you determine what grade of natura hair you have. My hair is fine and soft when it is long and still soft short, but in it's natural state it looks dry and after shampooing sometimes it stays dry no matter how much moisterizer I put on it. I'm surprised at Pantene, too. Maybe they meant the products for people who don't have naturally curly hair but want some. That might explain why the shampoo and conditioner strips (or clarifies) the hair because it's meant for straight textures (which tend to produce more oil)??? I have not curly, not straight hair which makes for a constant UGGGHHHH kinda feeling!! But, I have found one of the better curling products to be biolage gelee. It's a really runny formula so its harder to apply than creams or gels but the result is awesome! It can make things a bit crunchy but scrunching after hair is 100% dry will fix that, not so much with mouses for whatever the reason. FYI.

Would you be able to recommend any styling products that I could buy in India? My hair is dry and gets really frizzy. I recently got a very short hair cut (your length) I dont have tight curls and it's more wavy now that it's short. Also can curly hair be blow dried without investing in a diffuser? I see you have hair similar to mine! The best straightener is the "CHi nano" with the digital heat index. I talk all about it in my video :)) It may be a bit expensive, it runs usually $75-$125 US dollars, but it is the best hair straightener you can use right now for our kind of hair. @101feven101 Oh np. I use a small amount of the leave-in conditioner. I just make sure to spread it evenly throughout my hair, from root to tip. Right after I have applied it, I comb through my hair to get rid of any tangles. Yes, it is true that washing curly hair is damaging to the curls, so I suggest just rinsing your hair off with water and then applying the leave-in conditioner to the damp hair. Doing that works as well.

@101feven101 you should definitely try using a leave-in conditioner. i have super curly hair and right after i shower i apply the leave-in conditioner in my hair and let my hair air-dry. after my hair dries..it looks soft and non-frizzy. i used to straighten my hair a lot but it was ultimately damaging it and giving me split ends, so i stopped and i leave my hair curly now. and i prefer it curly. :)

I have to use leave-in conditioner and do a co-wash between washings, especially in muggy weather. Your hair looks so healthy! You should try brushing your hair with your fingers instead of the comb, combs and brushes tend to flatten curls. Have you tried using the Aussie leave-in conditioner/mousse? It's super cheap and it doesn't make hair hard like gel. But your hair looks really really good, I like it a lot!

@shihtzulover98 It used to when I was younger. You need to ONLY brush your hair when its wet. If you brush your hair when its dry, it created split ends. Also, your mom told me that you just bought a paddle brush. It is a good idea to brush your hair with a wide tooth comb. You don't really need to spend so much money on these products bc I change products occasionally. I'll be posting a new video soon on how I've updated my routine. :) I usually only buy things when they are on sale @ CVS

haha that sounds like the tequila song. i have curly hair. even more so dry and frizzy. and none of this crap works. the best product i have ever used is megasilk heat protecting spray with olive oil.. spray freely and blowdry your hair. but not so much that its completely dry. yep. just one product and a blow dryer is all you really need. its only 6-7 dollars at sally's beauty supply and its the best thing ive ever used

I have really thin hair but, it's also really ripply and extremely long. I've watched so many videos of people with curly hair and they all say that they only wash their like, once a week but, I can't do that because my hair tends to look greasy at the root if i don't wash it every other day...and ideas? P.s. I do condition my hair but, mainly the ends and not my scalp so much so it won't look as greasy the next day.

It's actually not fake. You can get those curls, not just from that straightener, but from a simple cheap one. You don't need any chemicals in your hair, you just need to have clean prewashed and dried hair. Mousse would come in handy, but you don't need it unless you don't want your curls to fall out. =]

yeah I know what you should do: i have curly hair also, and it was a big problem for me before, but now I can choose, straight or curly ^^ FIRST of all, if you have a flattening iron, and you have tried it out, and it did'nt work; throw it away and get another proffesional one that can reach 200 degrees celsius at least. Then you HAVE to have some kind of protection spray, I use Swartzkopf osis+ flatliner 3. then remember to take small amounts of hair all the time, otherwise it wont work ^^

Naturally curly hair goes only with professional hair products! I have the worst kind. Frizzy & only till the shoulders (short growth cycle). So it never gets long & heavy enough to look good. It is uncontrollable if I comb it without products. It looks like cotton and flies around... And it is so dry, that if I comb it without a product the hairs break! Eugene Perma and Framesi kinda work for me, so I am really excited to look for the products u recommended. I hope I can find them in Austria.

Thank you! :) I have found that crunchy curls are a result of having your hair too wet when applying product. I comb through each product and once I'm done I use my hands to scrunch my hair and then after about 20-30 minutes I give my hair a good shake to fluff it up and break up any potential crunchies.

I only shampoo about 3 times a week but I do rinse my hair every morning in the shower. I brush my hair twice a day, once in the morning before I get in the shower and at night before bed. You have to brush curly hair to help distribute the oils and stimulate the scalp just don't brush it during the day after its been styled. Leave in conditioners are key to help control frizz which is why I use 2. I also almost never use heat on my hair I just air dry.

Thank you! Definitely try different things and in different combination. What works for me might not work for you but its worth a shot. Because I have such thick hair I can get away with using a lot of product and not worrying about weighing it down. I know that lotions work great for my sister but not for me so definitely experiment till you find what works for your hair.

Deva Curl is great although unfortunately it did not work for me :(. Having curly hair is expensive and requires a lot of trial and error. I can't even tell you how many different brands I have tried or how many different cocktails I've combined. So far what I show here really is the only thing working for me at the moment and that mousse and gel are KEY for me at least. My sister can get away with less sometimes but my hair is just really course which adds another element to the mix

You need to DEEP condition it and use a leave in conditioner daily. I deep condition about twice a month and I use 2 leave in conditioners daily (the Pravana spray and the Bumble & Bumble). Are you using a heat protectant when you straighten your hair? I flat iron my hair MAYBE 6 times a year if that and I use a blow dryer with a diffuser maybe 7 times a year otheiwise I always let it air dry so that helps.

Unfortunately from my experience being broke doesn't agree with our hair type :(. I have yet to find drugstore items that work for me. Check out some online discount places and stock up if you can. For me and what I use my MUST haves are the Joico Gel, & the B&B leave in and teh Foxy Curls mousse. The Pravana and Aquage are definitely needed but I have gone w/o for a couple days before. A good leave in and gel are your 1st and last basics if that makes sense.

the difference will probably be in the wattage and in the settings. Some cheaper one takes longer to heat up and they usually just come with an "on and off " option whereas the ones that range from 25-50 dollars have a temp. setting that you can adjust and recently there are the ceramic ones which cost more bc they are made with ceramic coating rather than the usual metal. hope that helps ( i use to work at a beauty supply store thats why lol )
