@babyvae14 you would need to stop using chemicals on your hair if it's breaking in order for it to regain strength. you also need to use INTENSIVE deep conditioners and not use heat in your hair until you can see a professional for help. Good Luck!

I am so scared. My hair is breaking really badly, but it never got that bad until 8 months ago. I believe it's because of the chemicals. I would perm it, then after a while I would put extensions in it. I'm only 14, so I don't have a job and my mom doesn't care. Watching these videos is making me cry because my hair is really unhealthy and idk what to do. I am experiencing breakage from heat and harsh combing right now so it is extremely encouraging to know I am not alone. I love how you said it is just hair and it will grow back and you are so right and we just need reminding sometime. We put so much time and effort in our hair so the ups and downs can have some seriouse effects on our self esteem but it's just hair.. I have changed my regimen to no heat and protective style and deep cond once a week and protein bi-weekly.. thanks for the vid

I don't think you should stop wearing wigs but stop wearing them so often. Meaning when you get home from work or whereever take it off and let your hair breath a little. Stocking caps can and will cause breakage due to friction. so try to eliminate the length of time you wear ur wigs. Step up ur moisturizing and deep condition.

I would recommend stepping up your deep conditioning alternating between moisture and protein. Since you are 4 months post, those two textures are fighting eachother so to keep them happy moisturize often and d.c

I like to use Dove Intense Damage Therapy shampoo and conditioner for breakage myself. In about a month of using it I was able to grow about an inch of hair at the edge of my hairline that before hand would only grow to about 1/8 of an inch before hand before breaking :) More of a comment to vid watchers rather then vid maker lol

Bon Soir Nunaa! I've just finished reading Ultra Black Hair Growth II by Cathy Howse, if u haven't read this book I recommend it as she has been on a hair journey for over 10 years. I found out about it from another youtuber; Kimmaytube. Her approach to hair growth is common sense, She warns against mixing chemicals/ relaxers. I honestly don't know how u can get rid of the texlax texture if u still have it after relaxr! As for breakage; she recommends protein as treatment for breakage. GBU : )

for natural good protein treatment you can try a mix of avocado your preferred oil honey aloe gel if not allergic an egg glycerin mix it with blender let it sit for 30 min on your hair rinse and follow with a deep conditioning its natural ,it works for me just make sure to follow with deep conditioning .

You are correct..hair does grow with a relaxer..it just weak hair and requires a lot of extra care. My thoughts on whether or not I relax my hair is the chemicals that I am putting on my scalp that can leak to my system. I am not sure I want to continue to trust whether or not those chemicals are safe and what are they doing to harm me over long time use. The board is still out on whether or not I will relax my hair again or not...It is a personal choice and still our right to choose:)

I have a relaxer,and my hair is growing. I think it is in the way a person takes care of the hair. If a person don't want worries,then they shouldn't relax their hair,so you absolutly know the hair is going to be healthy. I think nautral or relaxed,both ways require alot of work. Lol

I will have to try that mixture. I have everything but the lavender and cedarwood. I am still looking for a good moisture that keeps my new growth moistened. Bought profective V for leave-in daily moisture but it did nothing for new growth in terms of keeping it moisturized. I will be flat ironing today when my hair is straight i have no problem with keeping the new growth moist. thanks for the mixture I will try it..

One more thing, since I have been moisturizing my hail with a castor/jojoba/lavendar/rosemary/cedarwood oil mixture, my new growth is so soft, actually it's super soft and I barely have any shedding. I hope this helps.

Tea Tree Oil does indeed stop the itchiness as does an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse -- I do this as pre-poo treatment when needed. I am currently 6 week post my relaxer and my hair stays is braids & I moisturize my hair twice a day w/ a castor oil mixture. I wash my hair every 3 days religiously, deep condition once a week, I use a mixture of essential oils on my hair and scalp after my hair air dries, I don't use direct heat and my hair lives in braids when it's not being washed or air dried.

I have tons of new growth and my scalp surprisingly does not itch. I stop using shampoos with sulfates that can really dry out all the oils in your hair and scalp. I also stop coating my hair and scalp with products that contain mineral oil, lanolin or petrolatum ( so my natural ingredients would penetrate the hair shaft). I know that with my hair I only put in back maybe about twice a week, because my edges in the front start to break off due to the stress of being pulled back for too long or too often. You should try (this is if you haven't found a solution already) just moisturizing your hair and staying away from the puff for a while so that your hair has as little stress on it as possible.

Could be hereditary. Could be alopecia. I started to experience thinning edges while wearing my satin bonnet (like yours). I think it was rubbing against my edges. So I just put a scarf on under it and do a scalp massage with oil mixture. You should go see a dermatologist to pin point the problem

I'm a couple of months late so hopefully the breakage has stopped. Other than being hereditary it could def. be stress or an allergy to a chemical in a gel you're using. Years ago after having my son, a bc pill caused my edges to break off and they grew back once I stopped taking them. Hope all is well now!

It appears that too much stress is being placed on your edges. Are you twisting your hair while it is dry? Also, the "satin" bonnet that you wear at night is probably acrylic and this will wear your edges off. Purchase a 100% silk scarf and use it for tye ups. Kepp your hair well moisturized. This can be done cheaply with the vegetable glycerine and water mixture. Last but not least, massage your scalp daily.

I would like to suggest that you use an organic shampoo ( Dr. Bronners) , it's all natural. You could also try using natural oils, such as grapeseed oil, clary sage oil, rosemary oil, jojoba oil,olive oil,nettle, and caster oil. Those oils are great for growing and regrowing hair. You could mix those oils together and get great results. Go online and research these oils to see all the benefits. You can also do a hot oil treatment once a week.

A few things that you can do in the meantime is take Biotin, Zinc, and MSM to aid in encouraged regrowth. A friend of mine had to actually use Rogaine for women and her hairline returned with beautiful baby curls there. One caveat is that you must continue to use it for sustained growth. It never hurts to seek a dermatologist and seek their guidance. Good luck and sending hair growth your way!

My hair breaks in the middle as well but it used to be like that before I started to transition (not when I was natural as a kid). I figured that it's because I wore my hair in ponytails a lot and that part of my hair wasn't getting exposure and moisture. It is still the dryest part of my head which is why it takes so damn long togrow lol. I know you did a big chop, but maybe that's why you had breakage:)

Keep your hair moisturized on a daily basis. Use a water based moisturizer like neutrogena silk touch leave in cream found at most drug stores. Or try wave nouveau finishing lotion or just plain water and seal the moisture in with an oil like olive oil. I have been transitioning for 11 months now and i also cowash, using conditioner only to wash my hair with no heat afterwards and wear a twist out. My fave conditioner is hello hydration by herbal essences. I had a lot of breakage like you.

Yes your hair will break off but here will come a point when it will stop. It's a natural process however, you can still do things that will alleviate some of the breakage as our hair transitions. I use a protein treatment (aphogee) which you can find a Sallys to help you get through the transition. Also use a deep conditioner after a protein treatment. It's also a great idea to keep your hair trimmed until all of the relaxered hair is gone. Then suddenly you will notice your hair take off!

When I first decided that I wanted to grow my hair, I was trying all kinds of stuff like taking hair vitamins. Then I stopped and tried a simple routine w/only using pantene conditioner, 1 hair moisturizer, and jus olive oil and my hair is growing fast. I don't comb my hair when its wet, straighten my hair once a week and I think I can be anemic. I also take 2 gummie vitamins but don't know if thats helping. If your hair already grow out healthy and thick, I wouldnt take any more supplements

its not the heat its the product look for alcohol sulfur ( sulfate ) and mineral oil avoid using hair product with these chemicals for a week and you will notice the difference

All this protective styling stuff is great and I am an absolute advocate, but i've found that when my hair is really acting up, leaving it alone; just co-wash and moisturise every couple of days, for as long as i can maintain, lets my hear breathe and thicken. I think too much of a good thing, i.e. weaves, braids etc.can also be a bad thing. p/s please, please can you tell me what eyeshadow you are wearing, because it is beautiful! Thanks x

Wow your hair has grown a lot for two years you know. But as I said in the other video, really might be the cold because my hair reacts like that. I just twist it up until it's warmer. Heat is a factor for breakage...Another factor is STRESS, as you mentioned and obviously got teary eyed, depression is a form of stress that can lead to hair loss. I hope everything will work out for you in whatever personal issues you might have..Try not to dwell on the cause of your stress, I know easier said than done..You are doing the right thing with laying off the heat for a while...You can hide your hair especially in the winter climate...because the cold is also a factor for damage.

I'm always rockin' 'em (to the mall, to school, etc.) You have to give your hair a break from flat ironing sometimes. Your hair will be fine hun. If I were you, I would put liquid castor oil on my ends, just on my scalp. Get hollywood beauty castor oil (it's in a cream form) and use that on your ends. It's way lighter than liquid castor oil
