i use to have a Nintendo advance and Ive had it for years and it lit up my day as a child but after so long it stopped working... and i could never find another one for ever. so all my special addition games like paperboy (version not sold enymore), the legend of zelda (uncut version with all the little secrets and such they took out for every new version) and super mario brothers (same thing) could never be played again so we had to sell them without me knowing... -_-'

Everyone I know had a zapper. That thing never fails. Even today I can play like 10 feet away and it accuracy and success rate is amazing. IT'S YOUR TV. I tried playing on my flat screen, gun doesn't work. But all the TV sets that are not flat work great. The only accessories I knew on the nes that almost everyone had or that I even knew existed at the time was the zapper. Sorry, but that shouldn't count as a failed gimmick.

i used sand paper, on the cartdrige and INSIDE nes connector, i dismantled EVERYTHING and bended the naked game circuit with a heavy dictionary almost touching the two circuits, used contact cleaner, AND i have soldered about 8 pins from an unused game with wires to the connector (there is a separete part of the cartdrige circuit that avoid blinking telling if it's JAP USA or PAL) doing so it works and you can run jap usa or pal games, mine still needs the dictionary

Probably not worth commenting, but blowing really does work--there's a reason it's universally used around the world. It's usually a temporary fix or only necessary when games are really dirty. Cleaning with alcohol is the obvious method, not extreme at all. But yeah, the NES-101 (toploader) is an amazing improvement on the original.

@EliteTitanHD You need a certain number of hearts in order to get the White Sword, if you don't have enough, the guy will not give it to you. If you follow this walkthrough, you will have enough hearts by the time Mases gets the White Sword. Also, the beam blade (throwing) can only be used at full health. ~ Caleb

One of the hardest zelda games made, it's fun because it's so harsh. It starts you in the middle of no where with nothing but a shield and it says go and adventure! Your confused and start walking around and eventually enter a dungeon and you dont realise it but its like level 6 or something and you die instantly... HAHA

I'm glad I cashed in on selling my nintendo and games at my garage sales in the peak of its popularity before the SNES came out. I don't even play video games anymore. Those cheap games could be sold for like $20-$30 used, and that was a deal.

In all of the 3D Zelda titles, link is left handed, except for the Wii version of twilight princess, since the majority of players would be swinging the Wiimote to swing the sword with their right hand. The entire game's layout (dungeons, et al) was mirrored in the Wii version to compensate.
