That is totally unhealthy behavior. I just got out of a marriage where she saw 22 everywhere. True mine is the number 8 or any combination of numbers with a sum total of 8 when added down to a single digit. I've been there. License plates, time, price costs, any number of objects ect. On a numerological level I've even seen the correlation to astrology in the random passing of cars in a numerous set of circumstances that relates to the signs, Dodge ram, Chevy caprice, Ford mustang (sagitarius), Ford Taurus, mercury (virgo/gemini), firebird (scorpio/phoenix).

actually, beauty is represented perfectly by the golden ratio. relating to.. the fibonacci sequence and what not..with the spiral. It's true, I once got obsessed with the number 117, like from Halo. Very *very* cool...I'm a guitarist, but I think I'm a closet drummer. I used to have a kit but didn't know what the hell to do with it. These days I sequence alot of complex stuff and try to work out how I'd play it, and my brain works so different now. Impressive. I tried something similar with a Nord Modular patch a few years ago, but sequencer modules take up a lot of CPU on that thing (why?). So I couldn't gang enough of them together to pull it off. Controlling every knob and switch must be very satisfying, but... have you ever considered doing all the sequencing and control in Cycling '74 MAX, with MIDI/CV converters to your sound generating modules? Seems like it would be a lot cheaper and more flexible, too.

Of course, these 'patterns' have several variables- not the least of which, are the notes tuned on the sequencer. Some tunings sound fantastic, while others sound- well, less desirable. Ideally, whether using 1, 2, 3, or more rows- the tuning of notes on each row have everything to do with a good or great sounding set-up. And- the selection of reset-points also can make, or break it. I started out patching for 8 reset-points, but over time, I found I prefer to use only 4- and all 'on-the-fly'.

@treetrouble I hesitate giving an 'in-depth' description, simply because of all of the times I've screwed myself out of good-paying gigs by "giving away my secrets", so to speak. (Sounds crappy... but it's true). But briefly- One sequencer acts as the Master Clock, and plays the notes. A 2nd seq. is kept in sync, and it's output triggers are patched to 'certain' steps on the first seq, creating reset-points. By using switches, you select the 'reset-points', which controls the pattern.

OK, I understand this better. I've had another look at the Q960 and I think I understand the Trigger In and Out functions better. I guess I'll have to start saving up for a Q960. Meanwhile, I'll look forward to my 16x4 being built (currently known as the Sequencer of the Apocalypse). .... Besides... think of these 'sequences', as a sort of 'lead-part' (although, their often not... and a real lead is played over them). Thing is- too much going on... like massive polyphonic-voiced sequences, can be just way too much, for the listener. With polyphony, all modules used in the patch (VCOs), (VCAs), (VCFs), (mixers)(multiples)(control-voltages)(everything)... must be duplicated for each voice... a massive task, and expense. Plus... with all of those voices being sequenced... it's highly questionable whether 'the waters would be muddied way too much'. Polyphonic synths have a specific use... being polyphonic. Same with mono.duophonic. I don't believe in 'forcing' one to be another. Poor outcome.

Sorry for the response delay- I don't think you'll be able to use this technique with your custom 16x4. What you MUST have, is Trigger-INs & OUTs for each stage (step). That's the only way for 'assigned' stages to trigger other selected stages. A 'reset' or 'skip' won't do this. ???output voltage being mono, duo, or poly???... It 'could' be set for 'duophonic'... but- this is not thi kind of thing that 'polyphony' is good at. (running out of characters... will cont. on next comment).....

I don't have any Q960s, but I have a Doepfer A155 and I'm having a 16x4 sequencer custom built with skip and reset, so I hope to start understanding this better. A question, though, does the patch always output a single (monophonic) voltage, or is it a duophonic or polyphonic patch? The voice and effects used makes it difficult to discern.

I've even been told by the local flight school that they do larger ccts, as the students need time to do their checks!!!! gonna be an interesting crash reprt "I couldn't make the feild cos I had to extend downwind in order to complete my checks, and crashed short of the runway"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great example of good pattern training. I get annoyed following students on a 2 mile final! its true Its more challenging its more fun and more practice. I love making the pattern short and stopping in less than 500 ft. its a GREAT exercise. By the Way AVWEB GREAT VIDEO! GOOD HUMOR I loved it. A pilot who knows how to properly control his airspeed will never over shoot a short field no matter how tight a pattern is flown. Exactly why Paul made the video! I taught new pilots for years and never had to fly large patterns with my students to aid them. Now that I fly jets I still see the same pilots who could not fly a nice pattern in there Cessna 150 unable to do it in a jet. Bottom line, no crutches, learn how to fly right.

Usually large patterns are taught for Student Pilots at the beginning of their training to have more time to correct small mistakes. As the training progresses, tighter patterns with shorter finals are usually taught. Perhaps CFI's should focus on that more... Not to disagree with Tony, but flying too tight patterns have led to over runs at short and soft field airports due to energy problems on final approach. Don't forget to teach go-arounds!

Really though, it's irrelevant. Candlestick patterns are applicable to any chart and timeframe, provided sufficient liquidity to ensure smooth price flow (eg. avoid anything that looks like the chart of an illiquid penny stock or well out-of or in-the-money options contract) Cheers, Lance

We have been doing Tie dye's following this pattern. They look great but our problem is that when we wash them the colour fades to very pastel colours. We have used Soda Ash and a fixative in the dyes which it calls for. Why is this happening?

you don't have to use soda water. i put salt in warm water, and a little salt in each dye. it helps the shirt absorb the dye better. it looks like the soda ash absorbs better though.

If you want to teach or help new investors, tell them with the half chart, which means, the chart that doesn't appear to be double top or double bottom, still in progress and take action, BUY or SELL? Well, again, there is no certainty in how much you are going to win. The only two things you totally have control over are 1) the entry point of your trade and 2) risk management, where your protective stop is. You must know where your protective stop must be and what your profit target is BEFORE you enter the trade. So these are all known things. What is unknown is the amount of profit. What you are missing is that there are no absolute indicators that will tell you exactly what you want to know. I picked out charts for 2 different stocks and an index (FXP, DIG, $COMPX) on market close on 11/13 to illustrate this question: they look almost identical!!!! I know they should be somewhat related, but all the time I thought that I could be shorting a fund of Chinese companies (just turn the FXP chart upside down) or buying into oil and gas; but compare the charts, they are practicallly identical! How can it be?
