This is a video of how I do my hard core protein treatments. I do this every 6-8 weeks. I use Nexxus Emergencee as my protein (the full name is Nexxus Emergencee Strengthening Polymeric Reconstructor). I believe it is not as strong as the Aphogee Two Step. Thanks for watching!!!

Okay, I'm white and a lot of protein treatments I've seen have to do with black hair??? Will these treatments be too harsh cause I have very thin damaged hair but was wondering if it would still work with my hair type? I think it really depends on your hair. I would suggest that you try co-washing everyday for week and see how your hair reacts. I can't really stand having the salt from the sweat just sit in my hair. I don't co-wash everyday, but I will spray or wet my scalp if possible after each workout.

Hi, I do leave in it until it hardens on my hair...about 15 mins under the dryer. If it is your first time using it probably best to use it as the bottle directs. It took about 3 months before I noticed a real difference in my hair. Thanks for commenting!

Have you tried moisturizing your ends at night? Whatever you use to moisturize your hair with, try using it at night specifically on your ends...and then maybe sealing with oil. I found that has made a world of difference for my ends. I saw a difference in my hair after about 3 months of use (I only use it every 4-6 weeks). I don't know of any products for hair growth...keep watching videos to pick up hair tips. Thanks!

Thank you very much!!! I start using the nexxus emmergencee protein treatment 2 weeks ago. Today is my 2nd time... for sure my hair had a big improvement is shinner and my husband says that seems to be fuller, it is very soft... I love it.. I do relax my hair and the ends seems to be very dry afterwards... after the 1st time using nexxus could see a huge difference... Do you know any product for hair growth?? thank you again.

Hi, I am not a professional, but it my opinion every 2 weeks may be too much. If your hair is damaged I would say try every 3-4 weeks at first. If your hair seems to handle it at that frequency then you might be able to go every two weeks. Protein treatments are supposed to strengthen your hair, but too much protein can make your hair hard, brittle and damaged. I would not use it on the same day as your perm/relaxer...I would say to use it a week before or after your relaxer.

This is one way I do a protein treatment using an egg. Its just another alternative that you could do. I do protein treatments ONCE A MONTH! I washed it out with a moisturizing shampoo and deep conditioned with a moisturizing condition.

Since my hair had great results when relaxed after doing the 2-step alphogee protein treatment, I decided to try it on my natural hair. The results were softer coils, which I'm always striving for. When I do a twist out I make sure my hair is completely moisturized with my shea butter, leave-in conditioner, detangler, and maybe some other moisturizer but the 3 mentioned is really enough. It may feel over-moisturized but by the morning it's just right to obtain soft, moisturized coils. Thanks for watching :)

Well if you have black on right now, I can tell you its going to be a bit difficult to go lighter...trust me! Once you dye your hair black, it's VERY VERY hard to get it out of your hair with minimal damage! Find a good colorist and get their opinion! Congrats on going natural!

@rialjim sum ppl don't need them. but if u do damaging things 2 ur hair like i do o(use a lot of heat), it helps keep ur hair healthy. the hair is only sensitive 2 breakage bcuz protein hardens the hair. if u let it get 2 mushy from over-conditioning, it's also prone 2 breakage. learned this the hard way! ;)

I like using the Parnuve Hair Mayonnaise (its a little cheaper than the ORS) and I mix it with evoo, evco and some peppermint oil. My hair gets a nice protein treatment and it feels very soft from the olive & coconut oil. Thanks for showing the amount of hair you lost. This is happening to me every time I detangle. I have been so caught up in using natural products but after reviewing the ingredients, realized that the ones I am using do not have any protein. I am using aubrey conditioner without protein and kinky curly shampoo, which my hair does not like (makes it squeaky clean). I convinced myself that the amount of hair loss I was having every time I washed was normal, but now I see that it is not.

Great video! Thanks for sharing this. I went out this past weekend and purchased the Aphogee 2min. Reconstructor product that you mentioned in this vid & I'm hopeful that it curbs that shedding that I'm noticing. A lil' too much hair combing out in the (shower) comb for me, even after my weekly deep conditioner treatments. It's more shedding than breaking for me so I'm hopeful that this will work. If your natural not that often, unless you use a lot of heat. Heat can break down the protein in our hair but if you don't use heat a lot you should be find. Protein treatments should not be done more then 2 to 3 time a year. As naturals protein treatment are just not needed some times. Wow! I wish that I found your site sooner. This was very informational and I like how you break down how amino acid are made up of polypepetides. You know your stuff and I'm happy that my biology is still fresh. However, I usually stretch till ten to eleven weeks before applying a relaxer. I am so confused, ever since I started hearing "protein sensitive" I've been leery of it. My hair is already fine, break easily. I moisturize daily and seal it with shea butter mixture or simply oil, but I don't do more harm to my hair until I get it to a better place. I've been natural for almost 1 1/2 years and the growth has been minimal. Any advice?

I B'c'd almost 3 months ago. A little over a week ago I did a conditioner/egg mix protein treament for my hair and went under a dryer for about 30-40 min. The day after that I noticed a little more shedding when I do co washes but not a whole lot there wasn't any breakage that I know of. It would just be shedding when I co wash with vo5 which never happened until I did that treatment. Do you think it's protein overload and if so what can I do to correct it?

Hi, thanks! I want to support your point, even though I'm caucasian. My hair is 3a/b and I use ethnic hair products, they work better for me than European ones. Recently I noticed, when I was using Aphogee, that my ends were so hard, they reminded me of needles. And I noticed so much breakage and split ends - CRAZY split ends, like christmas tree shaped O.o Now, a month later, about an inch trimmed :( and back with my old products, it's beginning to get back to where I was before the protein!

No because I didn't twist my hair but yes I had problems with braids and actually the reason I chopped earlier was because of the tangles, it has something to do with the straight hair and the kinky hair. I know what you mean about trying to find a natural stylist I just gave up and let a regular stylist cut my hair but I do my own hair.

I'm tempted to just do it. I'm trying to find a natural hairstylist but I haven't had any luck. This would definitely help me go for it. I just want to have a backup hair stylist . Did you have any problems with twists while you were transitioning? My hair got really tangled and I don't know if it was just my hair or maybe something the stylist did. My hair has never tangled like that before. Being 100% natural seems alot easier than transitionig. I wish I could find a stylist in Colorado.

You could keep it in the refrigerator to help it last longer. They probably assumed you purchased the coconut oil for cooking, and keeping it at low temps (refrig) helps stop oils from spoiling or going rancid too quickly. I keep mine under my bathroom sink and it has been fine for over a year.. so you really can decide what is conveinient for you :)

Good question. For me, I use protein only "as needed" to control breakage. Otherwise, I'm always using moisturizing products. But, you have to listen to your own hair. Emergencee is strong, so I usually will only use it once or at most twice in a whole relaxer cycle. Enphuse is a mild-medium protein, so you can use it more frequently.. like once a week or every 2 weeks as needed. Basically, don't use the protein on a schedule, just use it when you need to control breakage.

I have heard ApHogee has a good 2 minute reconstructor, which you could use as a protein treatment up to about 4 days or so before your relaxer- I wouldn't recommend washing any later than that. I can't give you a personal testimonial on the Aphogee, but I have heard good things about it. I've also tried Aveda's Damage Remedy protein reconstructor and it works well but it's a bit on the expensive side. If you plan on getting the Enphuse at some point, maybe pick up the cheaper Aphogee till then.

I think a little bit of breakage is unavoidable, and I still do get a small amount, no matter what I do. As far as shedding goes, like where I lose hair from the roots, that's part of your hair's natural cycle, so I get that too but it's nothing to worry about. I always apply leave-in to my hair after washing it no matter how I plan to style it. Hope this helps! :)

I have fine hair and I was wondering if you could recommend something else that I could get to use next week before I have my relaxer done and how to use it. Good video- I have tried slices of apple placed directly on the psoriasis. The same day after about 8 hours, the scales changed in charater and mostly came off. 2nd day, for 8hours, I noticed addiitonal improvement. 3rd day, 8hrs, vey little additional scaling. I am experimenting further. I will try her solution also.

I don't have this illness but I know a young teenage girl who has suffered severely with this condition. She has not had the money to try many of the medicines available. It is so nice to watch a video of a genuine human being who is not trying to prosper from other peoples misfortunes! A person who is willing to share their information with other people in desperate need. Bless you!!! I am going to show her this video and pray it works for her as it has for you. Ive suffered from psoriasis for about 15 years, in 20 now and its the worst its ever been, i used steriod cream for about 3 years but when i ran out Id flair up so much and i'd find new plaques of it all over my body. It has hugely affected my confidance and what i wear, its changed my attitude towards men as i feel that nobody would want to do near me. Ive tried so many ways to get rid of it, i WILL be trying this, and i will let you know how it goes. Thanks xXx

Mary Ann, I thought you were silly for posting this, but you know what? I bought some of this and have been doing it for 3 days on all my plaques and they are very red, but they are slowing down in their scaling and I am COMFORTABLE! even if it doesnt completely get rid of my plaques, i feel oh so much better! Thanks and a big hug for posting this and giving me some peace!!

I dont beleive this....if you have it on your head and ears it might work but if you have huge plaques on your skin it isnt going to get rid of it....

@MsJess619 - What I'm saying is that if you have an infecton like candida it can stress and run you immune system down and then this "weakened" immune system allows psorasis to emerge!
