I retract the sentience thing (i said "only"; given the aspect of nature killing), although in most cases it easily can be spun as "the person/people put themselves in the position to be negatively affected by that", however what i said before cant be applied uniformly so it cannot be applied at all. The phrase "guns kill" in the context of what is commonly known, is still misleading. The phrase "Guns are used to kill" or "Bullets are used by Guns to kill" would be more appropriate.

Right, its just the phrase "guns kill" sounds like (a misnomer?). I guess it depends if you can consider objects capable of "killing people" or if that's only a territory reserved for sentient beings (e.g. humans). The reason I mentioned ineptitude is from the children discovering the danger out of curiosity and even adults not applying safety principles and injuring themselves also.

Implying that "guns kill" is essentially doing two things. 1. It removes the personal responsibility from the (presumably inept) person wielding it and 2. you'd have to assume for an inanimate object with a utility value would have sentience (which it does not) so it cannot logically be held responsible as responsibility implies an acceptance of consequences.

I prefer to enjoy the song than get my panties knotted up about religion. WTH does it have to do with this song anyway? We all have different beliefs. Some people should learn to just listen to the music and enjoy the melodies and Loreena's beautiful voice. It was awesome when she preformed with the fiddlers at Vancouver opening ceremony. =)

It was the way for the early Christians to make Pagans feel better about converstion. Many Irish Goddesses became "saints", Brigit being one of them and the holidays became intertwined as well. You are right, there are parallels between the myths. The origin of the old Egyptian and the Hebrew/Jewish Mythology as well as Babylonian, Sumerian... is the same. My observation in this regard was not meant to deny what ever truth there is in the Christian myth for you. The universality of these myths is not a reason to discount them.

I love this song, I like Loreena, she's a really good artist! I was in a grumpy mood at work today because the people I work with are lazy and gossip about me, but when I popped this song in...I get a peaceful feeling within me it's hard to describe. This is obviously a religious argument, and just to toss it up a bit, I, a pagan, am going to take your side! :) According to the good ol' Wikipedia, the term "pagan" is used to refer to the polytheistic, non Judeo-Christian traditions. Therefor, Christianity cannot possibly be pagan. However, it closely resembles pagan religions if you look at how saints are revered, much like our lesser gods. I think that some of the so-called savants would develope an ability to see images based on differential equations. I'm thinking of one particular person, brilliant in calculations, learning languages, etc, and also very normal otherwise (which is rare with savants). He sees numbers in terms of shape and color. He is surely smart enough to learn differential equations (if he hasn't already), and I think with a bit of practice he'd be able to see them working.
